Galathea 3 Expedition

We are pleased to announce that the MacArtney Group Ocean Science division has been chosen as system supplier to the Danish Galathea 3 Expedition organized by "Dansk Ekspeditionsfond" (The Danish Expedition Foundation). MacArtney will deliver a system to be installed on board one of The Danish Navy's largest Naval Vessels "Vædderen".

The system will be available for oceanographic and enviromental related research. "Vædderen" will be the base for the 8 months duration of the expedition that starts in August 2006 and will bring Danish scientists to all corners of the world.

The scope of supply includes: 

  • A dedicated CTD Winch and handling system with 5000m cable, NEXUS 907 Fiberoptic telemetry system, SeaBird 24 pos. Carousel watersampler system with SeaBird 911plus CTD with dual TC and Oxygen sensors as well as a suite of sensors from Biospherical Instruments, WETLabs & Dr. Haardt
  •  A multipurpose Hydrographic Winch and handling system with 3000m cable, NEXUS "Science" fiberoptic telemetry system to be used with TRIAXUS ROTV, Multinet operations, static vertical profiling with CTD's and other sensors
  • SeaBird 12 pos. Carousel watersampler with SeaBird 911plus CTD with dual TC and Oxygen sensors
  • Seaeye Falcon ROV system
  • 2 TRIAXUS ROTV systems equipped with SeaBird 911plus CTD with dual TC and Oxygen sensors as well as a suite of sensors from Biospherical Instruments, WETLabs & Chelsea Technology Group
