When an anchor is lost, speed matters, but control matters even more.

For Dutch Tender Service (DTS), anchor recovery is a daily reality. Conditions change, visibility is limited, and there is no time for complicated setups.
To strengthen their recovery operations, DTS recently put an EdgeTech 4205 side‑scan sonar into service, integrated in a way that fits how they actually work. Instead of towing the sonar behind the vessel, the team developed a fold-in, fold-out deployment from the spud-pole position, allowing the sonar to be deployed directly beneath the hull.
The benefit is straightforward: faster mobilisation, tighter positioning, and better control during search patterns, especially when working close to other vessels or subsea infrastructure.
Combined with LUXUS underwater lighting and camera systems, the crew maintains a clear, real‑time view from detection to recovery, reducing uncertainty at every step of the operation.
Erwin van der Schee, Sales Manager, MacArtney Benelux:
This unique setup works because it is built around how the job is actually done, and it highlights a strong collaboration. EdgeTech provides reliable sonar, DTS knows their operation and integrated it into their vessel and workflow, and our role is to help bring the right technology and people together.
With EdgeTech Marine and MacArtney supporting the solution, DTS and CEO Arjan Nugteren continue to do what they are known for, living up to the well‑earned nickname, The Anchor King of Scheveningen.
