Erhverspriser 05 Edt Banner

Our export business began in 1978 with a telex machine running day and night in Mac and Winnie MacArtney’s family home in Hjerting. Today, more than 95% of our business comes from customers outside Denmark – supporting operations where equipment must perform without access, under pressure, and far from shore.

Receiving the Export Award at the Sydjyske Erhvervspris ceremony, presented by Erhvervshus Sydjylland and JydskeVestkysten, is something we value deeply. It reflects nearly five decades of building an organisation where local presence and global support go hand in hand.

With more than 500 colleagues worldwide across APAC, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas, and an extensive distributor network, we are positioned to support customers wherever they operate.

Group CEO Niels Peter Christiansen:
“Above all, this recognition belongs to the teams at our locations who make this possible in markets around the world. Our focus remains the same: staying close to customers, translating capability into customer value, and making complex systems work where it matters.”

The judges particularly highlight:
“MacArtney’s strong ability to combine global reach with a local presence. Through its own locations and a robust international network of partners, the company has established an export model that ensures close customer dialogue and a high level of service and technical support of the highest standard, even in complex and competitive markets.”

Congratulations to our fellow nominees across all categories. Strong companies shaping business from this region.

For the fourth year in a row, Design School Kolding has created the awards presented to the winners of the Southern Denmark Business Award.

This year’s award has been designed by Rikke Gjerulff, a bachelor’s student specialising in accessory design.

Titled “Imprint”, the award draws inspiration from the lasting impressions a company leaves on the world through its work. This is symbolised by pieces of water buffalo horn set into a solid brass plate.

The buffalo horn, typically used in eyewear production, is repurposed here as offcuts from that process.

Since its establishment in 1978, export has been a central driver of the company’s development, and today the majority of its revenue is generated in international markets. Based in Esbjerg, MacArtney has, through targeted investments in innovation, technology and specialised competencies, built a strong global position within some of the world’s most complex and demanding industries, including offshore energy, ocean science and defence.

The company distinguishes itself by combining advanced engineering, strong system integration capabilities and deep technological expertise with an uncompromising approach to quality and operational reliability. The result is tailored solutions that deliver significant value to customers worldwide.

The judges particularly highlight MacArtney’s ability to combine global reach with a local presence. Through its own locations and a robust international network of partners, the company has established an export model that ensures close customer dialogue and a high level of service and technical support, even in complex, competitive markets.

MacArtney is a strong example of how a company from Southern Jutland can, through innovation, perseverance and strong relationships, achieve global impact and set new standards in specialised technology. It clearly demonstrates how Danish know-how and expertise can be translated into global export success.

For these reasons, MacArtney stands out as a compelling winner of the South Jutland Business Award 2025 in the export category.
