Build a tidal array in a day
Building a tidal array in a day was the subject of a unique and fascinating seminar that was part of the RenewableUK 2011 conference and exhibition held on the 25th of October at the Manchester Central Convention Complex.
Entitled “How to build a Tidal Array in a Day”, the interactive seminar offered an interesting insight into the needs and solutions in deploying a 100 MW tidal array from experts from a number of leading marine energy stakeholders.
The workshop was well attended and covered most aspects to be considered when building a tidal array or multiple tidal turbines. A tidal array has never been built before and the workshop looked at the challenges related to a task of such magnitude.
Doug Huntington, one of the renewable energy experts from MacArtney Underwater Technology, shared his knowledge on infrastructure with a presentation on Electrical Connections in Section 3: Array Design Planning and Procurement.
Doug focused on connection systems, including dry and wet mate underwater connections.
