Discussing Europe’s role in safeguarding underwater critical infrastructure
POST |
Last week, we welcomed Christel Schaldemose, Vice President of the European Parliament, for an engaging conversation on Europe’s growing reliance on subsea infrastructure and the need for stronger European and Danish capabilities in this domain.
Earlier this month, Anders Kronborg visited MacArtney, a meeting that helped spark the dialogue leading to this engagement.
Our discussion centred on how cables, energy infrastructure, and seabed offshore assets have become vital components of Europe’s security, resilience, and digital backbone. Ensuring awareness of activities beneath the surface is no longer optional – it is a shared European responsibility that requires close alignment between policy, industry, and technology.
MacArtney contributes by integrating sensors, communication systems, connectivity, and subsea platforms that deliver dependable, real-time data for informed decision-making. Our DOMUS platform exemplifies this approach, supporting persistent monitoring and adaptable subsea operations.
During the visit, Christel Schaldemose met with our Board of Directors and our Naval team - Bjarke Ovesen & Søren Schrader - to explore how European industry can support EU ambitions for resilience, situational awareness, and protection of critical infrastructure underwater.
We value the open dialogue and the opportunity to exchange perspectives on how Danish expertise contributes to Europe’s broader strategic objectives.
With MacArtney solutions in operation worldwide, protecting underwater infrastructure is a collective task – and strong European collaboration, backed by local capabilities, will be essential going forward.
