Delivery of advanced tensioners from 3- to 50-tonne for Asso.subsea’s new cable-laying vessel, Althea. 

MacArtney Offshore Solutions has been awarded a contract by Asso.subsea to supply a complete tensioner package for their state-of-the-art vessel, Althea.

The order includes two 50-tonne tensioners, two 15-tonne tensioners, one 3-tonne track tensioner, and a retrofit of a 20-tonne tensioner – all engineered and developed with a focus on precise tension control and consistent performance under varying conditions.

Highlighting the specifications for the 50T and 15T tensioners

50T tensioner:

  • SWL: 500 kN
  • Speed: 0–1200 m/hour
  • Max pinch force: 1000 kN
  • Track contact length: 5500 mm
  • Cable diameter: Ø50–400 mm

15T tensioner:

  • SWL: 150 kN
  • Speed: 0–1200 m/hour
  • Max pinch force: 600 kN
  • Track contact length: 4000 mm
  • Cable diameter: Ø50–400 mm
