Marine Technology Society is pleased to announce a joint Navy-Industry-University “Underwater Cables, Connectors and Imaging Systems” 3-day working session. This workshop will take place October 26-28, 2016 in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and is organized by the MTS Cables and Connectors Committee and the MTS Underwater Imaging Committee.
This will be a working meeting at which key Navy personnel (NAVSEA, NSWC, NUWC, NAVFAC, SPAWAR, NAWC, ONR, NRL, APL and other FFRDCs) will discuss recent and current programs in addition to funded, planned activities. Developers and suppliers from industry of cables, connectors and underwater imaging systems are invited to present their existing wares as well as proposed solutions. University researchers in these areas will also be on hand to display and discuss some of their recent developments, discoveries and forward thinking.
The workshop will be hosted at the waterfront ocean technology cluster comprised of SeaTech [the joint Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC)-Florida Atlantic University's R&D Laboratory] and Nova Southeastern University’s new waterfront Oceanographic Center. These modern research and development facilities are located on the ocean side of Port Everglades. In addition to two days of working sessions, a third day is set aside for dockside and shipboard demonstrations of acoustic and non acoustic imaging systems, sensors and other hardware aboard Navy and University vessels. Exhibitors are encouraged to make arrangements to bring hardware for demonstrations.
