DIDSON

The DIDSON system sets new standards for imaging sonar. DIDSON gives near video quality images for inspection and identification of objects underwater.

The standard DIDSON operates at two frequencies (1.8 MHz and 1.1 MHz) and provides images of objects from 1 metre to over 30 metres in range. DIDSON is small in size and requires only 30 watts at 24Vdc.

Current models operate at depths from the surface to 3000m.

There are other versions of the DIDSON system, these are the 'Long Range' (LR) suitable for inspection ranges from 1m to ~80m, this system uses two lower frequencies (1.1MHz and 700kHz), the Diver Held (DH) a neutrally buoyant self contained system for use by divers, and the Split Body, for use on AUV, UUV, and ROV systems where the forward space required may be limited."
