Manual Driven Hand Winch

Winches
The MacArtney Group supplies a broad range of winch systems for marine related applications. All winches and cable handling systems are manufactured in close proximity to the Danish headquarters in Esbjerg, facilitating coordinated engineering, design, production, system integration and certification. A correctly designed cable and cable handling system can substantially extend the working life of most underwater systems - ROVs, towed systems, corers, ploughs, diving systems, and so on. Traditionally MacArtney supplies "package solutions". These are integrated systems of dynamic cables, slip rings, winches, sheaves, launch and recovery systems, wave compensation etc, as applicable. All winch systems are engineered, tested and certified to suit the customer application.

Manual Driven Hand Winches
The MHW I SS Hand Winch is designed for on-deck storage of cables. The hand winch frame is constructed from stainless steel with an electro-polish finish and the drum from a specially formulated plastic material, making the whole unit resistant to corrosion with very low maintenance. The winch drum, which can hold up to 1.500 m of 6 mm Ø (350 m of 14 mm Ø) cable, is also prepared for a Focal 180 electrical/electro-optical slip ring. The winch weighs 43 kg without cable and slip ring. The winch is also available as a lighter, smaller unit constructed from corrosion resistant high grade aluminium with a base weight of 22 kg. Electrical drive is optional.

Electrical Stainless Steel Winches
The "Cormac" electrical oceanographic winches are available in three sizes for respectively 450 m, 650 m & 1.500 m of 10 mm Ø cable. The electrical stainless stell winch is constructed from glass blasted AISI 304 stainless steel, which requires no painting or maintenance. All electric motors and junction boxes are IP 56 and the standard units are fitted with a direct drive level wind and a "soft start" function. All units are prepared for a Focal 180 electrical/electro-optical slip ring. The two larger winch models have a variable speed function and all winches are available with a remote control option.

Oceanographic Winches
The "MASH" oceanographic electric winches are available in several sizes from 500 m to 6.000 m of 12,7 mm Ø cable. The oceanographic winches are all steel winches and used extensively for side scan sonar, ROV/ROTV systems and towed oceanographic systems.

Features include:
- PLC control system with frequency converter drive of motors.
- Individual drive of level wind.
- Possible interface with other control systems.
- RS232/422/485 output.
- Indication of paid out length, tension, speed, cable paid out and numerous other information's.
- Winch frame contains forklift pockets and pad eyes for lifting.

All units are prepared for Focal 180 slip ring.

ROV Lift Winches
MASH ROV Winches are designed to meet the requirements for handling industry standard large "work class" ROV's. The standard ROV winch is designed to hold various armoured lift umbilicals with a full drum line pull of 15-18 tons and can be delivered with individual cable capacities. Features includes full electrical drive system consisting of asynchronous motors driven by frequency converters and individual drive of level winds. The ROV winch units are designed to integrate with our LARS (Launch and Recovery System) and wave compensation systems.

Right Angle Winches
MASH right angled winches, with the level wind sheave integrated or on top of the protection frame, are designed to handle communications for any type of ROV or ROTV. They are the ideal solution for areas where space is an issue. The right angle design saves spooling space. The right angle winch system also eliminates the fleeting angle between the winch and the A-frame - with the added bonus of a more careful handling of the cable.

Features includes on-site adjustment of level wind position. This winch unit is designed to integrate with our LARS and wave compensation systems.

Launch & Recovery Systems LARS
MacArtney A/S currently supplies several standard launch and recovery systems (LARS) from a 2 ton SWL for medium sized observation vehicles and up to a 12 ton SWL system for "work class" vehicles. All launch and recovery systems use standard ROV winches and the winch power pack is also used to power the "A" frame. A number of docking mechanisms and turntable designs are available depending on the type of vehicle used. The winch and "A" frame are mounted on a single skid. The complete launch and recovery systems are built according to DnV lift appliance regulations.

Special Winch Engineering & Design
MacArtney delivers a broad range of special winch systems and offers design and engineering support for special projects. We deliver integrated systems including cables and slip rings for military, seismic, civil engineering, nuclear and offshore projects. The majority of these winch projects involve close co-operation between our project managers and our customers' engineers to identify technical needs and task expectations. Our expertise covers hydraulics, mechanics, hydrodynamics, electronics, fibre optics and software-fully supported by extensive test facilities.

Ancilliary Products & Services
The MacArtney Group supplies a broad range of ancillary winch products for the standard winch range. These products have been selected to interact optimally with the winch system as an integral part. In line with the company policy of integrated systems, MacArtney offers the following support products and services:
