Fibre Optic Connectors
Fibre optic Connectors
MacArtney introduced their first optical and electo-optical series of multi mode underwater connectors in 1986.
The Hybrid Series products were based on proven expanded beam technology and the industry standard SubconnŽ wet mateable electrical connector. These products are still used extensively in the ROV and cable plough markets. The trend towards single mode technology demanded a reliable underwater expanded beam connector but problems were encountered with reflection from lenses used in the multi mode designs.
New designs were developed and the breakthrough came with a new expanded beam "ball lens" technology which produced acceptable results. Due to the severity of underwater technology working environments we could not accept the traditional "fibre to fibre" mating used by other connector suppliers. In 1999 we introduced the OptoLink connector series based on extensive in-house development and testing.
Optolink Multimode
The Optolink multi mode connectors have been on the market sins 1986. It has proven itself to be the market leader of Fibre Optic
Underwater connectors, and is used in offshore and military project worldwide. The optolink multimode connector accommodates two or four multi mode optical fibre passes, using expanded beam ball lens technology. The optolilnk multimode connector is available in a flange (FCR), bulkhead (BCR) and a cable mount (CCP, CCR) configuration, with a minimal attenuation between the mated connector pairs.
Depth rating of the optolink mulitmode underwater connector is 6.000 m. and the standard housing material is nickel aluminium bronze and SS 316.
Optolink Singlemode
The OptoLink underwater connector is the latest developed single mode fibre optic underwater connector in the MacArtney Group range of electrical/fibre optic connectors. After five years it has proven itself to be a market leader in the underwater technology field. It accommodates two or four single mode optical fibre passes, using expanded beam ball lens technology.
The optolink single mode connector is available in a flange (FCR), bulkhead (BCR) and a cable mount (CCP, CCR) configuration, with a minimal attenuation between the mated connector pairs. The back reflection of the light launched into the underwater connector is kept to a minimum in order to work high power laser light sources.
Depth rating of the optolink single mode underwater connector is 6.000 m. and the standard housing material is nickel aluminium bronze and SS 316 both are stock items.
